Manchester United is coming to Malaysia !!

Manchester United’s CEO, David Gill has confirmed that the recently crowned Club World Cup 2008 champion will be coming to Malaysia as part of their pre-season Asia Tour.

Malaysia will be the last stop in the tour and they will play a Malaysian selection team on the 26 July 2009. The match will be played at either Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil or Stadium Shah Alam.

This will be their fifth tour of Asia and for the first time will include Indonesia. Their first stop would be China. The date for the China match has yet to be confirmed. Then, to Seoul, South Korea on 20 July.

On 24 July, they will be playing at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. Lastly, it would their final stopover for the tour with a game in Malaysia on 26 July.

Manchester United’s first Asia Tour was in 1999 when they visited Hong Kong, Shanghai, Melbourne and Sydney. The second came in 2001 with a stopover at Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok.

Their third Asia Tour covered Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo in 2005 while their last tour, in 2007, was played in Tokyo, Seoul, Macau and Guangzhou.
