I just had to share this experience I had while being in Kampung Jelempuk. I was there from 11th to 14th September. I was there for RECMO, an event that I have been pain stackingly working on this semester. but I have to tell u that every drop of my sweat for RECMO was worth it.
we started our journey early in the morning on the 11th. I went with Anis, who went with Dkny and Ielah to v2. there, we carried boxes of heavy stuffs and hampers and put it in the bus. at about 10.30am, all the stuffs were in the bus, and everyone was there, so we depart. I spent the whole journey sleeping as I have only little sleep the night before. At about 3.00pm, we arrived at Masjid Kampung Jelempuk. The villagers are already there waiting for us.
the PNPs
the adopting ceremony began there. every family participating get two to three foster sons or daughters. name was called one by one and I was nervous waiting for my name to be called. after some time, my name was called. I'm adopted by Norshah & Nasirah family (which was interesting cause my Mama's name is Nazirah which is near to Nasirah) together with Dkny and KakHajar. we took some pictures then headed home.
their house was nice and cosy and I was comfortable there. my foster parents are friendly as well as their children except for Angah who appears to be a bit shy. my foster mother later on brought us to visit their families who are living nearby. she and our foster father also brought us to pasar malam in Pauh to buy some food for 'berbuka'. they also brought along their two daughters, Nadhira and the cute Nasuha.
the next day, I and Dkny woke up late. KakHajar was late too but she had something else to do. we actually need to go to the 'balai raya' that morning to help in carrying stuff and giving out 'pelita'. when we arrived there, almost everything was done. at about twelve, I decided to go home. Dkny needs to do something else, so I walked home with Bee and 5 'pelita' in my hand.
later in the afternoon, we went to SK Jelempuk where we had activities with the school kids. I was paired with Piske and was assigned to group number 14. the kids are great even though some them are shy. Piske and I introduced ourselves and do modules with them. what I don't understand is why they can call Piske 'abang Piske' but a simple name like mine, they can't pronounce. they called me 'cikgu' (teacher) instead. haih.
at about 5pm, we had another task. a program called 'bersamamu'. what we had to do was go to a few houses assigned to us and give them some food and hampers as donation. some of the houses visited was in a really bad condition. there's this one house that an old lady was staying. the house is very old and fragile. the old lady was living alone but looked very strong despite her age. She shared with us a lot of stories especially stories on how Malaysia was under the Japanese occupation.

I learned to be more thankful when I was here in Kampung Jelempuk as I have great family, live in luxury and doesn't need to go through much hardship. oops, I have to go now. Wait for Part 2! and oh, I'll add the pictures later.
